Mapping with Drones
- We can use create preset flight plans to map entire areas from the sky to create stunning detailed aerial imagery.
- DroneDeploy and MapPilot Business can be used to create 2D maps, 3D models of structures or land, and elevation maps of a given area.
- Examples of how Mapping can be used in real world applications:
- We used MapPilot Business to capture an entire lumbar yard in less than 30 minutes. The data was then extrapolated by a data processor to find accurate measurements of onsite lumbar for an audit at the end of the month. Traditionally this audit process run by a single yard manager could take over 2 hours with varying degrees of accuracy. This is faster, safer, and more accurate.
- Active construction sites are constantly changing as projects progress. Drones can create aerial maps of a site as a daily, weekly, or monthly audit. A company could easily see where heavy equipment is being left at the end of the work day and present status updates to banks, investors, landowners, and insurance companies. It involves no walking on site and is only a fraction of the cost of hiring a small aircraft.
- Mapping during Disaster Relief allows emergency response teams, telecom companies, and power companies a fast way to look at large swaths of an affected area. For example, drones are being used to map hundreds of acres at once so companies can determine damages caused by hurricanes in the southern states. This allows a safe and fast way to evaluate the actual real world conditions on the ground with little or no risk to personnel, allowing response teams to mount an appropriate and safe plan of attack.
Samples
- High resolution orthomosaic images are available in the software or for download.
- 3D Images can be manipulated in a 3D virtual environment online and can include measurement and volumetric data for your needs.
